The Memorial does not only commemorate and remember those who died but all of those who took part and the sacrifice of time by these thousands of men and women. Many sacrificed years of their life, putting their lives on hold in the name of duty to their country.
This memorial represents the enlistment papers of hundreds of thousands of soldiers who processed through this barracks during the First World War. This memorial remembers not only those who died in the war but all those who served. It Memorialises those who sacrificed their youth, innocence and time during the First World War.
Many of those who served in the First World War sacrificed years of their young lives. Their lives were entirely put on hold as they fought in the name of duty to their country and sacrificing their youth. Many never returned and those who did were changed for the rest of their lives.
This memorial remembers those who sacrificed this chapter of their lives.
The memorial commemorates the location as place of great historical significance in British Heritage not only from a military standpoint but all those affected by the war.
